OPM 770: CASE STUDY PRESENTATION

This is our last class for OPM 770 -management of operation. To curtain off this subject, we need to present our case study based on real business world. As usual, we were divided into few groups consisting between three to four members. Our lecturer, Prof. Wan Mansor, PhD, very supportive in guiding us to make this final.

well, look at these pics...most of us look enjoying presenting their respective topics...

uhumm..group Kak Ami, as usual will present about beauty products. This time, they selected Loreal as their beautiful product to be amazed. arghhh...perempuan kan!!!

Look at this brother... very serious in giving explanation about Air Asia's operation management. His group very sure that Air Asia is building competitive advantage through operation management - cost leading.

Well, penghulu group as usual presenting their favourite company - The Rhu Beach Resort! Huh, many things need to be corrected. As said by Prof. Wan Mansor, PhD, it is something impossible to align the operation with the suggestions given by them...but good try...

Penghulu, made few jokes but not attracted other colleagues. To avoid his unhappy feeling, we were instructed by timbalan penghulu to laugh...huhuhuuu... anyhow, we know that he is a very hard working man. He keeps doing jokes to ensure he will retain his title as Raja Lawak...heheeee, jangan marah ye...

Well, younger lecturer group...huhuhuuu...as their core subject they performed well in presentation but to unfortunate fate they were presenting something too technical which they have to pay by getting unfavourable remarks from Prof. Wan Mansor, PhD. Jgn la tunjuk teror sangat...kan..kan..kan...

Well, maybe one of our group should do ABR in operation management...Think about the topic...

Prof. Wan Mansor, PhD, what can we say now is only thank you very much for been our guidance in OPM subject.

OPM 770 - OPERATION MANAGEMENT

OPM is a very realistic subject...hahaaa, why huh? Most of the topics we were taught can be implement at our work even you are not sitting as operation manager. For example, if you are financial controller of a company, it is still related to studying OPM. OPM gives us more thorough understanding in controlling and managing operation as well as controlling through quantitative measurement.

Our lecture, Prof. Dr. Wan Mansor quite good in giving lecture even at some point of times, he is too narrative but he will ensure the students can grab what he is trying to convey to us. We were taught by lots of Prof. For past one year, and we found that methods of giving lecture not the same. However, most of them will try hard to make students understand. This can be noticed at the end of every lecture session.

To brief what we are learnt from this subject, below are the main chapters:

· Overview of operation management

· Operation in a global environment

· Design of goods and services

· Quality management and product quality

· Process strategy and capacity planning

· Location strategies

· Layout strategy

· Job design and supply chain

· Inventory management

· E-commerce and operation management

· Project planning

After finished this subject, students are expected to gain a good understanding in decision making related to operation management and be able to improve skills and apply analytical approaches to problem solving.

RAMADAN DIBERKATI, SYAWAL DIHORMATI

What do you want?

This is my first time posting an entry here, thus, allow me to make you think a bit. Sometimes its hard to know whether you can do it or not. But how can you know it, if you don't ever try? Trying and doing are 2 different things. While trying is only something in the mind, doing is actually translating what is in the mind. That is why, when we think that we are unable to do something, it's been translated through our action. And as the result, as per what we are thinking. You think?

Hambamaya: Bak kata Nabil, lu pikir la sendiri!!!!

MARKETING PRESENTATION

This is our last subject for this sem-marketing management [MKT 750]. This subject is totally new for me, but close relatioship among colleagues make me feel great to face the subject! hahaaaa... well, look at the photos...this is last class activity. We need to present case study. This is a thorough marketing situations, where we need to analyse a company possibalities or challanges in order to enter new market or place.

After a stresful presentation, we went for lunch. This is a very helpful event to release tension! (for me la...eating can reduce stress, but you need to enjoy chewing the food at a very slow rate). Look at my colleagues here...wow, very tasteful facing the meals...

well, time very jealous of us. Clock is ticking with no mercy. After this, we are going to take sem break for almost two months. but hope, we can still enjoy gathering and have coffee before watching football matches...hahaha, kat mana lagi if not at Sulaiman's favourite cafe - Coffee Street la...

JUST TO RELAX OUR MIND FOR MARKETING..HEHEHEEEE

Hey men...we’ve to responsible to ourselves, but once get married, we’ve to wisely proportionate responsibility to your wife, children and ourselves.

So, please be wise when looking for a wife...once you get married, and as a responsible father [husband], you can’t look back but regret will cover all your live. Nothing can change once you already decided. Thus, think with full of ‘iman’ what kind of desired girl you’re going to choose. Combination of these criteria shall be considered:

· Base on her Islamic appearance, but please don’t judge a book by its cover! Never ever being emotional...love has promise nothing but love becomes catalyst for happy life.

· Look for the prettiest in your eyes...never ever ask your friends but ask your deep insight, because pretty is subjective to everybody.

· Look for the rich girl not only in materials but as well as her attitudes. Pretty isn’t long lasting but attitudes will intact forever.

· Education. Never ever argue with women that received secular education because most/many of them are arguable! Woman with religious education background is more patience and know the best practice on how to handle husband. Women are created to ‘accompany/flank’ men. Today secular women interpreted Hawa was made from Adam’s rib, which meant to be loved and protected...yes, once Adam’s rib suppose to be ‘part’ of Adam’s body.

So, men...renung-renungkan dan selamat beramal...

REPORT ON FUTSAL II

By: Ahmad Hasnizan.

Amid uncertain political turmoil in Perak and ongoing agony of the Palestinian people, there is still something to cheer on. And it happened right here, in Kuantan, Pahang.

While BN scored 4-0 against Pakatan Rakyat in Perak with the defection of 4 assemblypersons; and Israel scored 1300-13 in terms of the number of people killed, we all scored so much more.

It was not the goals that matter, but the sheer determination and the true spirit of togetherness that we should cheer on. Defying all odds, everybody came from near and far, putting aside various personal difficulties and overcoming the tired feeling of taxing job requirements during the day to play a role in the successful game of Futsal. De Rhu Beach Resort was the place on Wednesday night.

The teams were divided into 2 categories: those whose waistlines are above 34 inches, and those who are below 34 inches. Except for some fiery shots from Rosli and puzzling moves of handful of players, the play was full of people grasping for oxygen and water. Therefore let’s face it; there was not much to brag about the game. Other highlights seem to be worthier of mentioning.

Here are some of the interesting highlights:

- Hamdan drove all the way from Kemaman with his youngest son. He was in the pink of health when he arrived but soon had to return an injured man.
- Hilal picked up Nafis and Nin in a manner that most taxi drivers usually refused to do. Hilal also made some crucial one-two moves during the game, much to his own confusion.
- Azman, a jovial man flushed with cash from Yayasan Pahang loan, did his stretching for the game at a gymnasium 15 kilometres away from De Rhu.
- Hafis, Rosli and Ahmad stretched every ringgit to put their hand on a brand new pair of Futsal shoes, praying hard that the Yayasan Pahang loan shall be forthcoming.
- Abang Wan handled the warm-up session as well as the cooling-down session with techniques that even Alex Ferguson had yet to discover.
- Moha displayed some advanced medical procedures he learned from the doctors in Hospital Kuantan when he quickly attended to Hamdan’s injury. However, Hamdan’s condition turned out to be worse.
- Nin also made a brief but significant appearance on the pitch. Abg Wan, stimulated by Nin’s mesmerizing display of woman football, fire an excruciating shot towards Nin. Nafiz’s eyes were seen to be blazing with fury following this incidence.
- Sulaiman was willing to put his sophisticated DSLR camera to great risk by taking shots at aggressive players. Again, when Sulaiman handed over the camera to Nin, Nafiz’s eyes were blazing with fury.

The night was the night of winners. Those who could not make it this time, (i.e. Reza, Faizal and other ladies) were the only ones who missed the win. Hope to see more of these faces next time.

The usual yamseng session capped the event, with everyone having at least 2 glasses of drinks. Doses of jokes from everybody made all of the winners went back as happier men.

See you later. Cheeeeeeeeeeerrrsssss!!!!!

ONE SCARY SUBJECT WAS COMPLETED

well...today, we finished our eco subject with final exam which we saw quite fair for us. Without hard working among group members doing discussion, this challenge would been as killing subject. Congrat to every group's member who stayed untill early morning (4-5 am) doing quizzes and assignments. We'll break for one week, so who are felt that he/she is not had enough sleep for past two weeks, please do that for this week!!!

Remember, next subject is managerial finance. Once again our brain will be deeply drilled by AP Dr Omar Samad. Everybody needs to prepare early in all aspects - psychological and physiology. Physiologically, we need to persuade our mind that we are able to go through this subject, and, physiologically, we need to have enough rest and nutritious diet...heheheee (jangan sampai gemuk dah ar)..hahahaaaa....

Anyhow, to all members, if you realised that till at this point we went through all subjects without any big problem. This is because our unity is tied strongly. 'Unite' make Us Strong...everybody may vary in interpretation of word 'Unite' but 'we' have the same understanding....

Oh yea...our new Penghulu is asking us to attend futsal event at De Rhu Beach Resort, Balok this coming wednesday, so hopefully all of us are able to give full support to new Penghulu. Ok...if God willing, we will meet there guys....

IT'S CONFIRMED, PENGHULU POSTPONE THE STUDY

Salam to all members...

Well, due to high job commitment, our Penghulu had submitted postpone letter to our study coordinator. Last week class, we saw he was missing from class! all of us felt quite awkward, and of course the most affected person from this situation is...sendiri mau ingat ar...hahaa...

For a semester, we did everythings together, and of course he shown prominent leadership characters - transactional and transformational. His leadership pushed us to realise all events we had planned at beginning of the semester such as futsal, break fast with lecturers, etc...

Anyway, we have to accept that our study shall be our priority even though without our most polite friend as well as Penghulu for our group. We can appoint new leader, and the most suitable person, according to my instinct is Ahmad...heheee...are you dare enough to accept this challenge as a new leader...good luck my friend...
